Join Peter Henry and Susan Mozena on Sunday mornings as we explore the Reformation and its impact 500 years after it began. Each Sunday morning in October, at 10:10 a.m., we will cover various topics related to the fateful day when Martin Luther challenged the orthodoxy of his day and set off what came to be known as the Reformation. Our schedule of topics is as follows:
October 1- Continental Europe before the Reformation: what made the Reformation possible?
October 8- Who Was Involved in the Reformation: Luther, Zwingli, Calvin and more
October 22- What Exactly Happened in the Reformation and its Connection to Presbyterians
October 29- The Ongoing Impact of the Reformation
In addition to our Sunday morning series, we have several other special offerings. On October 15, 22 and 29, the preachers will be addressing three of the great themes of the Reformation: grace alone (Oct. 15), Scripture alone (Oct. 22) and to the glory of God alone (Oct. 29).
On Tuesday, October 17, our own Jim Biery will be talking about “The Impact of the Reformation on Church Music,” focusing especially on the work of J.S. Bach.
On Wednesday, October 4, Peter is joining members of the PSG (our men’s fellowship group for men in their 30s, 40s and 50s) and talk about the role and impact of beer in the Reformation.
Several books on the Reformation are in our church library. Feel free to check them out.
Reformation Sunday, October 29, will be a big celebration at GPMC with red velvet cake, banners and more.
