GPMC members are invited to return to the Mercado. The Mercado is a very special, charitable food bank that operates as a grocery store. It is near Mexican Town with an immigrant target market. A family member shops by appointment and may fill a shopping cart with anything in the store. Limits on how much food in each category may be taken are set to make it fair for small families or large ones. Our volunteers assist with interpreting these rules, re-stocking shelves and getting food into cars. Spanish or Arabic as a second language is a plus – but it is not required to help.
Our work day is from 9:30 am – 1 pm. We always look for new members to join our regular volunteers.
Sign up at the front desk or email Mitch at email@example.com. Sign up soon – we only bring 10 people to help.
We will leave from the church parking lot at 9 sharp in the church van. Lunch in Mexican Village is usually chosen by the van group but you can meet us at Mercado (2826 Bagley, 48216) if you want to end your day at 1 pm. It is a morning to remember!
