When a parent is in prison, so are the children. Not a prison of concrete walls and razor wire, but a prison of loneliness, shame and uncertainty. These feelings can intensify at Christmas time. Many of these children may find few if any gifts under the Christmas tree. But gifts can be given to these children on behalf of the parents in prison who sign up with the Angel Tree Program as a way to show their children they DO remember and they DO care. Our gifts are given with a Gospel message that Jesus cares about them most of all.
Please take tags off our Christmas Tree and follow the gift suggestions for our Angel Tree children. Check the names of the children into the green “pick up tag ” book which is near the tree and when you return the gifts please sign the red “check in gifts ” book which is at the desk as you walk into the back of the church. Gifts must be wrapped and returned by December 8th.
After twenty years this mission, which was initiated by our TUXIS youth group, will have its final Christmas program. GPMC however will continue to send Angel Tree children to Christian camps during the summers. Many thanks for your wonderful participation these many years.
