At Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, there are multiple educational opportunities for children, youth, and adults throughout the year.
Preschool and Elementary Age Children
On Sunday mornings during the 9 a.m. worship service, children age 3 through 2nd grade are invited to “Young Children & Worship”, a multi-sensory worship designed especially for this age group. Sunday school is available for children at 10 a.m during the school year, and each of the Sunday school classes help lead worship throughout the year. Click here for the Sunday school forms 2017-2018.
During the summer months, “Growing with God” is offered to the children during the 8:30 a.m. outdoor worship service. During this time, the children learn about following Jesus’ example of showing love and compassion to others, especially those in need. The children also learn the basics of growing vegetables in the garden and the harvest from this goes to local food banks.
“Family Camp” is a time for families to get together for fun and fellowship. This a yearly weekend event is held the first weekend of August at Camp Michindoh in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Logos is our Tuesday after-school program which nurtures a faith relationship with Jesus Christ, while connecting children to the church. Logos is open to children in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Also throughout the year different activities both mission oriented and those that are just plain fun are planned for our preschool and elementary age children.
Middle School and High School
We are blessed with an energetic group of young people who find ways to engage and be engaged in the midst of the busy-ness of middle and high school schedules. Everything from weekly fellowship and Sunday School conversations to a retreat-based “Seekers” confirmation program. We offer internship and scholarship opportunities, and our youth are actively engaged in mission: week-long domestic and international projects as well as outings with Habitat for Humanity, Crossroads of Detroit and even service projects in our national forests!
Take a deeper look and get involved in the Seekers (Confirmation), Life (Living in Faith Evermore) and Tuxis (Together Under Christ in Service) programs at GPMC.
On Sunday mornings, a wide variety of topics for adults is offered between the two worship services. During the week, an array of adult education offerings is provided, day time and evenings, to respond to interests and schedule needs, including multiple Bible studies, “Theology in Film” and “Theology in Literature.” For specific topics, dates and times, please see the quarterly Christian Education Brochure. For questions, please contact the Christian Education office, at 313-882-5330, ext. 123.
