Christian Education

At Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, there are multiple educational opportunities for children, youth, and adults throughout the year.

Preschool and Elementary Age Children

On Sunday mornings during the 9 a.m. worship service, all children, age 3 through 2nd grade, are invited to Children’s Church, a multi-sensory worship designed especially for this age group.

Middle Hour is available for children at 10 a.m. during the school year, and each of the Sunday school classes help lead worship throughout the year. Download the Sunday School Registration forms here.

Middle School and High School

We are blessed with an energetic group of young people who find ways to engage and be engaged in the midst of the busy-ness of middle and high school schedules. Everything from weekly fellowship and Sunday School conversations to a “Seekers” confirmation program. We offer internship and scholarship opportunities, and our youth are actively engaged in mission: week-long domestic and international projects as well as local outings in Detroit and beyond!

Summer Youth Intern Program

The summer youth intern program is an opportunity for youth to work and discover more about the church and experience working outside of the home.  The purpose is to develop skills and experience necessary to work in the field of Christian Education or in different areas of the church.  Youth interns will gain knowledge in developing programs, teaching, working with others and developing personal spiritual growth.

Youth interested in being an intern must have a a growing relationship with God, express an interest in working with children, be at least 15 years of age (or finished with their freshman year of high school), be a member of GPMC or planning to participate in the GPMC Seekers program.  No prior teaching experience is necessary.

Adult Education

On Sunday mornings, a wide variety of topics for adults is offered between the two worship services. During the week, an array of adult education offerings is provided, day time and evenings, to respond to interests and schedule needs, including multiple Bible studies, “Theology in Film” and “Theology in Literature.” For specific topics, dates and times, please see the quarterly Christian Education Brochure. For questions, please contact the Christian Education office, at 313-882-5330, ext. 123.
