Programs for Youth

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. John 4

Grosse Pointe Memorial Church has lots of exciting programs available for youth and young adults. We offer youth fellowships, Sunday School, an annual mission trip for senior high students, a mystery trip for junior high students, and confirmation for students in ninth grade or above.  Except for public school vacations, every week we have:

  • Sunday, 10-11am: Sunday School for Middle School and Seekers Confirmation Class
  • Tuesday, 6-8pm: Dinner, Fellowship, Study and Play

Seekers

Seekers is Grosse Pointe Memorial Church’s confirmation program. Seekers are students ninth grade and older who are seeking God and making a decision about joining the church as adult members. If you would like to join the Seekers program, please register using the appropriate forms on this page.

LIFE and TUXIS

Grosse Pointe Memorial Church has two youth groups:

  • L.I.F.E. – Living In Faith Evermore, Middle School youth group, grades 6-8.
  • T.U.X.I.S. – Together Under Christ In Service, High School youth group, grades 9-12.

We are blessed with a vibrant and engaged youth group here at Memorial. Meeting weekly on Tuesday nights, we break bread together, share a time of fellowship, prayer, study and – of course – play. Dinner is from 6-6:30pm, followed by worship, study, and games from 6:30-8pm. Feel free to come to any portion of the evening. We also have special service and social events throughout the year.

Mission Trip

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have cancelled our 2020 high school mission trip to Costa Rica. We tentatively plan to postpone our trip to June 2021 and hope there will be a vaccine by then. Graduating seniors will be eligible to go on the trip with us next year if they would like to do so. In the meantime, depending on the course of the outbreak, we may be able to join together in some local mission projects in Detroit this summer. Please contact Rev. Sarah Godbehere for more information about refunds of trip fees.

Thanks so much for your dedication to this trip over the course of the year! We are all disappointed that we won’t be able to travel and serve together this time, but this decision is in the best interest of our young people, the Portantorchas staff, and our mission partners and their families. And as Christians, we are confident that even in the midst of disappointment, sickness, and grief, God is working to bring hope and new life.

Mission Trip – Learn More

Our high school mission trip is a life-changing chance to put faith into action through service in our community, country, and around the world. We are pleased to announce that GPMC’s high school mission trip will return to Costa Rica in 2020! In 1 Peter 4:10-11, the Bible says that we should, “serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things.” – 1 Peter 4:8-11. We trust that God will give us gifts to share and strength to serve, so that we may glorify God through this trip.
