2010 Lenten Worship at GPMC
Our Lenten worship begins on Ash Wednesday, with services at 7:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The
first service is a service of the spoken word, while the midday service
includes hymns and a soloist and the evening service includes our full
choir. All three services include communion and the imposition of
ashes.
Throughout
the season of Lent, our Sunday services will
focus on the role of prayer in our relationship to God and in worship.
Beginning on February 21, each
sermon will focus on a petition of the Lord's Prayer.
Additionally, a particular prayer in worship will get special
attention each week.
- February 21- Our Father in Heaven and the prayer of confession
- February 28- On Earth as it is in Heaven and singing our prayers
- March 7- Give us Our Daily Bread: Communion and the Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
- March 14- Forgive us Our Debts and a special musical offering: Faure Requiem
- March 28- Deliver Us from Evil and the prayers of the people.
During the season of Lent, we will be singing the Lord's Prayer. Visit the Featured Audio page on our website to hear our adult choir sing this piece.
Our Lenten worship also includes
- March 7- Holy communion at both services
- March 14- Faure Requiem
- March 21- Youth Sunday
In
addition to Sunday worship, each Wednesday night adult education
offering on prayer will conlude with a short worship service. A
labyrinth will also be available in Fellowship Hall each Wednesday
afternoon and evening.
On Palm Sunday, March 28, we will collect the annual offering for One Great Hour of Sharing.
You can donate an Easter lily for worship and shut-in delivery in honor of a loved one by downloading the Lily request form and submitting it to the church office with a check.
