March Madness is coming to GPMC! Bible Bracketology will be featured in February and March starting with the Old Testament on February 16, the New Testament on February 23, and the Finals on March 9. Your hosts for this highly interactive “tournament” will be Rev. Heather Thum–Gerber and Bob Mobley. The goal is to learn as much as possible in the time allotted about the “movers and shakers” of the Bible, their importance in the development of Christianity, and have fun doing it!
You may ask, “what is Bible Bracketology?” It is patterned after the college basketball tournament where teams are “seeded” based upon their power ranking as determined by a committee. In this case – we are the committee. The “bracket” part has us ranking the top 16 characters from both the Old & New Testaments. Then they “playoff” against each other with the #1 seed “playing” against the #16 seed, etc. Eventually, we come up with a winner for each Testament who square off against each other to determine (in our collective opinion) who is the most important character in the Bible.
So, here’s your chance to bring forth your favorite Bible character(s) and the reason(s) they resonate with your faith. Supporting Bible passages are advised, so bring your Bible and join us in Barbour Chapel during Middle Hour (10:10 – 10:50 am) on Feb. 16, 23, and March 9.
