GPMC Outreach – A Hands-on Ministry

The Outreach Ministry of GPMC is open to all members, friends of members, and partner churches.  We encourage everyone to find a way to participate,  to support, and to grow the Outreach Ministry of GPMC.

We pray. The first and best thing we can do is pray.  We are a Christian fellowship seeking to discern the will of God and work to care for the Children of God,

Make it a priority in your life.

We join together in hands-on projects.  We LOVE local, active, hands-on mission work at GPMC.  So we help the hungry with drive-up food distributions at two partner churches.  We make thousands of sandwiches monthly for ministries caring for the hungry.   We grow tomatoes and fresh vegetables to give away.  We contribute to clean-up days at partner churches and neighborhoods to make them safer and cleaner.  We add more and more as health conditions allow.

Look to the posts on our Home Page for current projects and links to sign-up pages.  We’ll also let you know about upcoming events in our bulletin, weekly emails and Carillon.

Click on the “Load More” button to the right to see what else we have done this year.

We have opportunities to donate food and other items.  Outreach has found many ways to collect items to help our neighbors, with drive-by food drives, sock and underwear drives, support for healthcare worker drives, with more to come.    Thank you for the ongoing support.

Upcoming drives will be promoted just like hands-on mission projects:  on the web, in the bulletin, and in the weekly email.

We support our international partners with prayer and funding.  GPMC has relationships with churches and organizations around the world including Cuba, Israel, Lebanon, Malawi, Kenya, Liberia, and the Congo.  Our prayers and funds are sent with our desire to make an impact in worldwide peace, health, education and justice.  Ask an Outreach member if you would like to join in this ministry.

We advocate for justice in the world.  We make time to call, email, and write letters.

Contact our leaders about issues that matter to you. Be part of the change happening all around us!

As a church, we donate funds at the thoughtful and prayerful directions of the Outreach council.  The pledges you make to the church and the funds you contribute to GPMC fund these benevolences.  You are welcome to add your donations through our monthly Hunger Offerings or ask an Outreach member to talk about the organizations to whom we contribute.  You will find that our donations align with the Outreach mission statement:

We want every member to know the joy of service to others.

We welcome members and friends to ALL our Outreach Events.  It’s why we offer invitations in our bulletin, church email and church website.  We try to give enough details about what you will be doing, why you are doing it, and who benefits from your work.  Did we miss a detail important to you?  Want to find out more?  Check the quarterly Carillon, pick up an Outreach brochure, check the Outreach bulletin board. Or email Sue Acton to find something “just right” for you.

Outreach at GPMC – A Ministry of Sharing Gifts

The Outreach Ministry at GPMC has members who understand the importance of sharing our financial blessings with partners involved in mission. Session and Trustees vote a tithe of our annual budget, supplemented by bequests, hunger offerings, shared mission contributions, and special offerings. Want to be involved? Here are three ways.

Join the Outreach Council – The Outreach Council researches and directs funding to those we call partner organizations, many of which are noted on the Outreach Links page. Everyone on the council has a voice and vote in directing these funds. The Outreach Brochure lets you know the recipients of our largest donations. If you want to be involved or you want the full list of our YTD gifts, email Julie Huellmantel.

Hunger Offerings – Vote with your checkbook. The Outreach Council selects twelve local organizations every year as Hunger Offering recipients, but you decide how much each one will receive. How? Every dollar you contribute during the month goes directly to that highlighted partner. Bonus: the Outreach Council will match that donation, up to $2,000 per month.

Direct Your Support – The most important way you contribute financially is through your church pledge and annual giving. But if, after you have made that commitment, you believe our church Outreach should have even more support, please give generously: through a gift to “Shared Mission,” or to our annual “Easter Offering,” or donate funds and goods such as hygiene kits, food for Shelter Week, supplies for those going to Cuba, whenever the opportunity arises.

“If you want your money to be thoughtfully and prayerfully directed, give it to the church”
