On Sunday, December 11, from GPMC members and friends will feed the hungry at Detroit’s only SUNDAY Soup Kitchen. And we are returning to “old school,” we are MAKING the lunch – not just packing.
from 8:00 am – 11:15 am GPMC members and friends will prepare and cook a meal for 400.
from 10:45 am – 2 pm GPMC members and friends will pack the meal and serve 400.
This meal is different from our Covid packing. While most of the guests still take their lunch to go, a substantial number will pick up their packed lunch at the kitchen window and eat in the large Crossroads dining room. We are cooking in Crossroads very large kitchen. We still will have health protocols like masks and gloves.
It means we need a lot more help. We’ll do it in two shifts because cooking takes longer to do.
We really need 15-18 volunteers per shift. Children 12 and under must bring a parent, but all are welcome. This is a great family event.
It’s also a great event for new members to get to know other service-minded people in the church. Young or young-at-heart, you are welcome.
Signup is first come, first served. If you see we already have 18 signed up – email Sue Acton to let her know you want to be an alternate and provide your phone number. She’ll call you on December 10 if we have cancellations.
Crossroads is at 2424 W. Grand Blvd, Detroit.
