March for Meals

GPMC’s Hunger Offering recipient this month is The Helm’s Meals on Wheels program.

Their program contributes to the overall well–being of older adults by providing regular nutrition and contact with a caring volunteer. Every $5 donation provides one meal to homebound Harper Woods and Grosse Pointe residents unable to safely prepare meals for themselves. Over 23,000 meals were served in 2023.

Use the blue pew envelopes, give through the secure donation form, or send a check to the church this month noting “The Helm” or “Hunger Offering” on the memo line. The Outreach Council will match congregation donations made this month up to $2,000.

Thank you for your support of GPMC’s Hunger Ministries.

Plus, GPMC is pleased to once again be a co–sponsor for The Helm’s “March for Meals” virtual event that will bring awareness and support to their Meals on Wheels program.

You can march, walk, run, bike, skip, jump, or hop on the sidewalk, a treadmill, or in your backyard. Or you don’t have to walk at all. However you choose to support us is your secret!

All walk proceeds benefit the Meals on Wheels program at The Helm. In 2023, we served nearly 26,000 meals to homebound Harper Woods and Grosse Pointe residents unable to safely prepare meals for themselves. That was an increase of 26% from 2022. As our population continues to age, the need for Meals on Wheels continues to grow.
