Unpack The Truck, April 21

Help St. John Presbyterian Church Alleviate Hunger!

On Friday, April 21, from 8:30 am – 11:00 am we will help the members of St John Presbyterian Church unload and unpack pallets of food from a Forgotten Harvest truck and put it in the cars of hungry people.

We are looking forward to sharing the thankfulness of the season with this community and we need help to do it. Forgotten Harvest is a great partner as is Unify Detroit Coalition. The know how to run pop-up food delivery points efficiently.

GPMC is delighted to volunteer monthly.

All the work is outside unless you want to help bag up some “extra” donations in their large Fellowship Hall during the “prep time” from 8:30 am – 9:00 am. There are outdoor prep projects, too, so choose your own comfort level. Once we open for business, all work is outside. If you have extra plastic grocery bags, bring them, they are useful. We anticipate a beautiful, crisp, sunny, warm, winter day. And whether or not we can promise that, our enthusiasm and energy bring the sunshine.

Wear masks, dress for the weather of the day, restrooms will be open at the church, bring your own water (and a snack if you need one). Plan to meet us at St. John’s PC; parking is available on site, 1961 E. Lafayette.
