Make a Difference Day

Saturday, October 25

National Make A Difference Day brings community service to a whole new level each year. Organizations join forces on the 4th Saturday in October to make a difference, big or small. Join us as we work to make a difference in the lives of others in our community. The expression of love for each other through support and a bit of elbow grease is sometimes all that is needed to make a difference. We will have projects for all ages at church and in the community:

Fall Clean Up at Second Mile Center · 9 am – 12 pm
The Second Mile Center of Detroit (18391 Morang) provides services to empower and strengthen those in need. The building is a safe place where children can attend free after school programs and summer day camp. It also provides a free pantry where those in need can shop. But, they need our help to do a little maintenance around the grounds and building. Your help is instrumental to maintain their services. Please bring tools such as: hedge trimmers/clippers, rakes, gardening gloves, lawn & leaf bags, blowers.

Children’s Service Project and Halloween Party · 10 am – 12 pm
For our children ages 4 through fourth grade, there will be a special offering that includes an age–appropriate service project followed by a Halloween Party! No costumes as it’ll be an afternoon filled with messy fun!

Sanctuary & Church Clean Up · 10 am – 12 pm

Yard Clean Up for Local Seniors · 10 am – 1 pm

Men’s Bible Study Food Drive · Farms Market from 10 am – 1 pm

Declutter for a Cause with Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit · 10 am – 1 pm
There will be a truck setup in the South’s parking lot collecting the following items: mattresses, dining sets, sofas, chairs, linens, and pots & pans! Items should be clean and free of rips, stains, or tears. Plus, your donations are tax–deductible. Fall clean your home, and help a family in need.
